I know we have not finished the book of 1 John. I promise I have not forgotten it. I wanted to ask you guys a question though. Jason Bullock and I were talking and he was telling me about the Philosophy class he was teaching, and these are the words that continue to circle through my brain: "Matt, 90% of the kids in my class do not believe there is absolute truth."
So, here is my question: Is there absolute truth?
I am asking a hard question. Are there morals and ethics that are right or can people act in different ways and "get to the same place?" Does it matter what we believe? Is everything relative? I want to know what you guys think. Please be totally honest. Post it.

Wow. This is really a hard question. I think there is absolute truth, but I think it is different for everyone. Like me for example. I think God is an example of absolute truth. I have complete confidence in Him to protect me throughout my life. But what about someone who doesnt believe in God. They may not have someone to believe in. They may be searching for something in their life that has meaning. That is something that bothers me. I try and try to spread the word of God around but I always fall a little short of my goal........wow ok, I should probably stop because I am getting off subject. I kinda do that a lot!
Well this question is really hard and i have thought about it for a while. I think that there is absolute truth.(what shala said) But, that it is a really hard concept to grasp. I mean, to trust in god fully with everything you have is a pretty big leap. And, i think that part of that leap is made when u are baptized and the rest comes by living and having experiences in him.
well i think there is absolute truth. i think the absolute truth is God. im not even sure if that makes sense but i think that no one knows the absolute truth about absolute truth. what i think matters is going by what the bible says because these days sometimes thats all that i can really fully believe in.
by the way matt im glad u posted this comment... it gave me something to think about.
I would like to thank youguys for all your thoughtfulness that went into this question. I want to push you just a little further. Shayla made the statement, "I think there is absolute truth, but I think it is different for everyone." And I want to raise the question: is that absolute truth then? Here is an example that might be helpful. If Shayla believes that 2+2=4 and I believe 2+2=5, who is right? So, back to the original question: is there such thing as absolute truth?
P.S. Thank you again for thinking through this. I believe this will really help your walk with Jesus.
I think that the answer is yes. But what I want to ask is why everyone has to give examples of it. Yes there is an absolute Truth, but do have to know what it is to know it exists? Yes its okay to have examples, but you shouldn't worry about that. If you know there is an absolute truth, then there is one. Plain, and simple. Hehe. my first comment..
